Full Time Warehouse Assistant - Crewkerne

We are looking to recruit a Warehouse Assistant , working alongside our existing team. We are a growing independent furniture retailer and we need someone to support our very busy warehouses. Helping with goods received in and with organising goods out.

Applicants will be fit and energetic with good communication skills, basic IT skills, a valid driving licence, a forklift licence is preferred but not necessary, a positive attitude and a strong sense of responsibility along with being able to work both in a team and on your own.

The candidate must be able to commute between Dorchester and Crewkerne
This is a permanent contract, 40 hours per week.

Duties

  • Loading and unloading of goods vehicles
  • Accepting in and unloading container stock, we are a furniture retailer so all of our products are heavy. Minimum box weights are 18kg, Maximum is 110kg. Applicants must have the ability to handle 25Kg boxes consecutively.
  • Book in 3rd party deliveries to client’s home for 2 man service
  • Book in collections and deliveries for 1 man service
  • Transferring stock to our other warehouses
  • Delivering furniture into our customers homes
  • Support with product bay placement and maintenance
  • Answer incoming calls to warehouse
  • Arrange and load customer vehicles with collections
  • Receive and book incoming goods onto our system
  • Full training provided.

Essential Requirements

  • Physically fit – furniture items can be heavy, our average box weights are 25kg. This role involves regular two man lifting of items such as sofas, dining tables and sideboards.
  • Friendly telephone manner
  • Computer literate – particularly in Excel and Word
  • Great attention to detail
  • Be able to work to tight timescales
  • Work on own initiative
  • Handy – be able to assemble furniture
  • Highly Organised
  • Comfortable working under pressure
  • Willing train for a forklift licence
  • Be adaptable and react positively to a change in priorities

Desirable

  • Experience working in a very busy environment
  • Experience driving delivery vehicle, 3.5 tons.
  • Flexible approach to work
