However, the majority of our extendable dining sets seat 4-6 people when retracted and 8-10 people fully extended. While our extending table and chair sets usually come with 4 or 6 chairs, you can also find an extendable dining table and bench sets for an alternative seating style. Or combine the two for the best of both worlds.

How do extendable tables work?

1. Leaf-folding extension: The extendable ‘leaf’ is conveniently stored beneath the table's main structure when not in use. When you need extra space, simply pull apart the two main sections, unfold the leaf, and slide it into place. Then, push the table back together to secure it. When you're done, just remove the leaf and push the sections back together. This type of mechanic is usually hinged with supportive brackets for smooth and easy movement.

2. Motion extension: These automatic mechanisms allow the table to expand or contract with a simple slide or pull motion, and the extension comes out. They require minimal effort with the extension smoothly integrated into the table’s design, offering a streamlined look.
