Dining Benches And Chairs
Making The Right Choice
From velvet to leather, we're confident that we have something for everyone, each material offering its own style and characteristics.
Choosing the right range or piece can be tough, especially when there is such an array of choice available.
With the kitchen or dining room acting as a social hub in most homes, dining chairs and benches will receive daily use, so it's really important to ensure that you choose the right style, design and material to suit you and home.
If you're unsure or have any queries, we would recommend speaking with one of our furniture specialists to understand which would be the best choice for you and your lifestyle.
General Care
- Wipe clean regularly with a damp cloth, and hoover on a soft setting, with a brush attachment, at least once a week.
- Never use abrasive chemicals to clean the upholstery.
- To remove spillages, do not rub into the material as this will cause staining.
- Liquid spills should be quickly cleaned by using the edge of absorbent paper towels and then dabbing the area lightly with clean towels.
- Try to avoid placing your seating within close proximity to a heat source, or in prolonged direct sunlight.
Avoiding Surface Wear And Damage
- Do not rock backwards on chairs and ensure the seating is only used for its intended purpose.
- Follow the assembly instructions correctly.
- Beware of dark dyed clothing and sharp objects.
- Most materials are not resistant to pets. We would always recommend that a covering is used to protect the upholstery from potential damage.
- Carefully lift your furniture, never drag or push it.
Faux Leather
- Clean with a damp cloth regularly and only a mild soap when needed, dry immediately after cleaning.
- Keep conditioned to prevent the material drying out or cracking - for best results and maximum longevity, we recommend investing in a faux leather conditioner from an established retailer.
- While every effort is taken during manufacturing to ensure that the faux leather takes to the same shade of dye, when used. There is still a level of variation in pattern or shading to be expected, this is to mimic the look of authentic leather.
- Keep out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources.
Velvet
- You may notice your velvet appear crushed. Velvet crushing, sometimes referred to as piling, is completely normal, it's part of the fabrics antiquing process and in no way effects the durability or longevity of the fabric.
- Early signs of crushing can often be addressed with an upholstery brush, as an example, to restore the velvet to its original state.
Fabric
- Dark dyed clothing can fade onto the fabric and may not be possible to be removed.
- 'Bobbling' on the fabric surface can be a common occurrence, this can be removed with a lint remover.
