Beds and Mattresses

Making The Right Choice

We can all agree that a good night's sleep is important. Our furniture specialists will be glad to talk you through our wide variety of mattresses to best support you, and the best bed frames to support them.

A mattress is something that you want to get right, and once you have it, you want to make it last.

Like all our furniture, mattresses and beds are built to withstand general wear and tear. However, we would recommend following our care and maintenance tips to ensure the maximum life and many years of a great night's sleep.

If you're unsure or have any queries, we would recommend speaking with one of our furniture specialists to understand which would be the best choice for you and your lifestyle.

General Care

  • Turn down the bed clothes every morning to allow the mattress to cool and breathe.
  • If you have a 'no turn' mattress, with a single sleep surface, it's important that you rotate it often, following the manufacturers guidance.
  • If your mattress can be turned, then we recommend turning and rotating it every week.
  • Hoover your upholstered bed frame regularly on a soft setting to remove dust.
  • Wooden and metal bed frames should be wiped regularly with a damp cloth to keep clean.
  • Spillages and marks should be cleaned with a damp cloth.
  • It's recommended to use a mattress protector.

Avoiding Surface Wear And Damage

  • Frequent rotating or flipping of your mattress will reduce dips in your mattress interiors.
  • Drawers in a divan base are built to withstand lightweight items, such as bed linen, and should not be overloaded. Maximum weight: Mini drawers - 7kg, Standard drawers - 15kg. If any different, this will be communicated clearly within your product information.
  • Always ensure to follow the bed base assembly instructions accurately, and check fittings periodically to retighten when needed.
  • Do not stand on your mattress and ensure it is being used for its intended purpose.
  • Use a correctly supportive base, designed for your mattress type.

Settlement Is Normal

Chances are that the springs or upholstery on your old bed were not what they used to be, so your new bed may seem a little strange at first. Please allow time for your body to adjust to your new bed and for the fillings to settle.

Due to modern day fillings being more sumptuous than their predecessors, settlement may be more pronounced in the areas under the most body weight. This is quite normal and, providing that the mattress is properly supported, can be minimised by regular turning and rotating.
